Tantrum is the expression of a young child’s frustration with his or her limitations or anger of not getting their way with something.
They might be facing some trouble in completing a certain task but unable to express them in words.
Thus, frustration might trigger an outburst which resulted in a temper tantrum.
Generally, young children do not intend to frustrate or embarrass their parents as throwing tantrum is just a way for them to express their dissatisfaction.
But on the other hand, tantrums among older children might be a learned behaviour instead.

In this case, if you reward tantrums with what they want or allowing them to get their way into something they want, most likely tantrums will continue or occur more frequently in the future.
Can Tantrums Be Prevented?
There might not be a foolproof way to prevent tantrums but there’s plenty parents can do to encourage good behaviour in even the youngest children.
Be Consistent
Maintain a daily routine so that your child knows what to expect. Stick to the routine as much as possible including nap time and bedtime. A child’s temper could become shorter if they do not have enough rest.

Plan Ahead
Run errands when your child isn’t likely to be hungry or feeling tired. If you are expecting a delay in your journey, do pack some toys and snacks to occupy your child.

Let Your Child Make Appropriate Choices
Avoid saying no to everything but give them a sense of control, let them make the choices by asking their opinions.
Praise Good Behaviour
Do offer extra attention when your child behaves well. Give your child a hug or tell your child how proud you are when he or she shares or follow instructions.
Avoid Situations That Will Likely Trigger Tantrums
Don’t give your child toys that are far advanced beyond their age. If your child begs for toys or treats when you shop, steer clear from areas with these temptations. If they start to act up in restaurants, choose places that provides quick service.
